Choose the route for the payment
Look for a Fastmail invoice according to who processed the particular payment. For Paddle payments, invoices arrive by email after payment and the current history of those payments cannot be viewed in Fastmail’s interface. Non-Paddle billing uses account settings. First establish how the payment for the period you need was processed.
If you have an older invoice or purchase email, check whether it mentions Paddle. If someone else bought the service, ask them first. Check the billing channel separately for older periods.
| What you need | Where to start | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice for a Paddle payment | Payment email; if missing, use Look up my purchase as described below | An invoice sent after payment, or a request for it through Paddle |
| Invoice for non-Paddle billing | Settings → Billing & Plan → View invoices and billing history | Fastmail says invoices are available at month end |
| Document for a payment before the Paddle transition | Historical invoice link in Fastmail’s help | A separate route for older documents, not current Paddle history |

The Payments guide explains this distinction and links to the older history. A history link alone does not confirm that the document you need exists in a particular account.
When Paddle processed the payment
First check the purchase email for the address used with Paddle. You will need that address to look up the purchase. It may differ from the address you normally use for correspondence.
Fastmail documents the following steps:
- From the Paddle billing help page, follow Look up my purchase.
- Enter the address used with Paddle for that purchase and complete email verification.
- In the chat that follows, request the invoice for the payment you need.

If you cannot access that address, ask the purchaser who has authorised access to request the document. You do not need their password or access to the entire mailbox.
An older purchase may use a masked address
Older Paddle payments may have used a masked address. Fastmail recommends opening Settings → Masked Email and searching for Paddle. Compare the address you find with the purchase email available to you; being in the right account is not enough.
According to the documentation, the newer approach introduced in late 2025 uses the Fastmail username. People with an existing masked address continue receiving invoices there. Use the address for the particular purchase: either the Fastmail username or an older masked address.

When you need the original Fastmail history
For non-Paddle billing, Fastmail gives the route Settings → Billing & Plan → View invoices and billing history. Its guide says invoices are available at month end. That timing applies to this non-Paddle route, not to invoices emailed by Paddle after payment.
For payments before the transition to Paddle, Fastmail also links to invoice history in the account. Use it for the relevant older period. This does not move current Paddle documents into Fastmail’s interface.

When someone else pays for the service
Ask the person who purchased the service and has authorised access to the documents for the invoice covering the relevant period. You can adapt this message by filling in the brackets:
Before handing over the document, we recommend comparing the name or business on the invoice, the period and the amount with the payment you are dealing with. If something differs, take the specific discrepancy back to the person paying for the service. Seeing Fastmail in an email does not by itself mean you have the right invoice.
Sources and scope of this guide
This guide uses public Fastmail documentation checked on 13 October 2026: Payments and Paddle billing. It is not a test of a signed-in account or confirmation that a particular invoice is available. The steps help recover the original document; they do not assess its tax or accounting use.
