Start with the Drive and its owner
In Descript, each Drive has its own subscription and billing cycle. One account can own several Drives. A workspace organises projects within a Drive, so a project or workspace name alone may not identify the subscription you paid for. Descript’s official billing and workspace guides explain this distinction.
According to Descript, only the Drive owner can view invoices. Permission to edit a project or administer a workspace is not enough. If you are not the owner, ask them to download the specific document. There is no need to share a password.
Before opening settings, gather the Drive name, its owner’s account, and the payment date, amount and currency. Use these details to select the matching entry. Do not change the subscription or permissions just to find it.

The PDF route: App Settings → Invoices → View Receipt
As the relevant Drive’s owner, follow Descript’s invoice-history guide:
- Open App Settings. The documentation also gives the shortcut Command/Control + ,.
- In settings, check that you have selected the Drive whose subscription document you need.
- Go to Invoices, the list of issued documents, and open the matching entry.
- Click View Receipt at the top right. This is the option Descript provides for saving or downloading a PDF copy.
- Open the saved PDF and check that it is the document you need. Opening a preview alone does not give you a saved file to hand over.

We retain the English control labels used in the documentation. Descript uses both invoice and receipt in this procedure. The document’s name alone does not establish its suitability for tax purposes.
Descript’s current guide says invoices are not emailed; they are available on the web or in the app. Return to Descript for the invoice. This statement concerns invoices and does not rule out payment-confirmation emails.
When an entry or button is missing
First identify where you got stuck: is the entry missing from the list, or is the download button missing from an open document? The official guide lists these cases:
| What you see | What to check and how to proceed |
|---|---|
| The entry you need is not in the list | Check the owner’s account and selected Drive. Several Drives mean separate subscriptions; the owner of the Drive associated with the payment must check. |
| The document is open, but View Receipt is missing | Descript does not show this option for $0.00 invoices or invoices from free promotions or coupon codes. This guide does not promise a downloadable PDF in those cases. |
| The payment belongs to a SquadCast subscription not connected to Descript | Look in the SquadCast account under Settings > Billing. This branch applies to an unconnected subscription, not automatically to every SquadCast payment. |
| The subscription is paused | Descript says invoices are inaccessible until the subscription is resumed or cancelled. We do not recommend either change just to obtain a file. Contact official support and request the specific issued document. |

If the table does not explain your situation, give support the details needed to trace the payment and describe the step where you stopped. A replacement document from support cannot be promised in advance.
Compare the currency as well as the amount
Descript shows invoice totals in USD. If you paid in another currency, the documentation says the list and invoice details also show the amount paid in that currency and the exchange rate used.
Compare the date, relevant Drive and amount together with its currency. A different numerical value on your bank statement and the USD total does not, by itself, prove you opened the wrong document. Preserve the currencies shown in the original when handing it over; this guide does not determine an accounting exchange rate.
The invoice billing option, available only on Enterprise, is a payment arrangement. You do not need to move to Enterprise to find an already issued invoice. This distinction follows from the payment-method guide and the download procedure above.

Downloading again will not correct business details
Descript says the name or business name, address and tax identification details must be added before the document is finalised. They cannot be added or changed retroactively on documents already generated.
For future documents, the official route is Settings → Profile → Billing info → Edit. This opens the Stripe billing page, where you edit the details and confirm with Save. It does not repair historical PDFs. For an older document, explain your request to support; do not assume a profile change followed by another download will produce a corrected document.

Hand over the original, or identify exactly what is missing
After downloading, we recommend opening the original PDF and checking the supplier, document identification, date or stated period, amount and currency. Keep the original and share it through the agreed channel. Add any note matching it to a payment separately, so the recipient can distinguish the supplier’s information from your additions.
If the Drive owner is handling the download, you can send this template. Replace the square-bracketed fields with actual details:

Use the contact route in Descript’s official help to reach support. Include the same payment details and the specific obstacle, such as “the invoice is open, but View Receipt is missing”. Until you have the file, keep the request open and note whom you asked and what prevents retrieval.
Sources and scope
This procedure is based on Descript’s official documentation checked on 14 October 2026. We did not test a signed-in account or an actual download; this is a guide based on supplier documentation. Assessing the document’s suitability for tax purposes is outside its scope.
