Start with the account and purchase route

Look for Dropbox invoices in the account that owns the paid subscription. The account you use to open a shared folder may not have access to its billing. Find the purchase confirmation or an earlier document and check whether the payment was handled by Dropbox directly, a team admin, Apple, Google Play or a reseller.

For each payment, distinguish the invoice from the payment receipt. Dropbox calls these Invoice and Receipt in its help pages, and they may have separate buttons in the account. A bank transaction helps identify the date and amount, but is neither of these documents. Give your accountant the document under its actual name. The control names below follow the providers’ English help pages.

Personal subscription: open the relevant transaction

For Plus, Professional and Essentials, sign in to dropbox.com with the account that owns the subscription. Open Manage Account → Billing, or use the direct billing link below. Select Invoice for an invoice or Receipt for a payment receipt beside the transaction you need. On a Family plan, only the Family manager can access billing information.

Open billing for your personal Dropbox account →

Dropbox notes that it may not send an email receipt for every interaction. A missing email is therefore a reason to check the payment history, rather than end the search. You can print an open document with Print invoice or Print receipt; if your browser offers a save-to-PDF option, save a file as well.

Team subscription: ask an admin with billing access

For Standard, Business, Advanced and Business Plus team plans, being a team member does not give you billing access. An admin with the relevant permission opens Admin console → Billing → Payment history. They open the transaction’s more-options menu and select Invoice. For a receipt, they select Find receipt, enter the transaction ID and click Submit.

Open Dropbox team billing →

This route applies to team payments by card, PayPal or direct debit. If the team pays by cheque or manual invoice, Dropbox says invoices and receipts are unavailable on dropbox.com; request a copy at invoices@dropbox.com. Also check the inbox of the designated billing contact.

If a reseller arranged the subscription, check with them how to obtain the document. Retrieving it does not require changing the payment method, billing address or plan. A missing Billing option may mean you are in another account or lack the required permission; it does not prove the payment is missing.

Apple and Google Play have their own purchase histories

If you bought Dropbox through the Apple App Store, start with the purchase history of the Apple Account used for the purchase. At reportaproblem.apple.com you can also search by amount. If you cannot see the payment, check any other Apple Account you use. Using Dropbox on an iPhone alone does not tell you who bills the subscription.

For a Google Play purchase, open the order history of the correct Google Account. On the Google Play website, go through your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & Order history. Check the order confirmation in the corresponding inbox too. Do not automatically treat the store’s document as an invoice issued directly by Dropbox.

Illustrative example: company card, different account

Petra has her own Dropbox Plus subscription and also belongs to a work team. In this fictional example, she needs the September document for the team subscription paid with the company card. She signs in to her personal account and cannot see the payment. Searching that history again would not help, because the transaction belongs to the team.

Petra sends the admin the date, amount and period she needs. The admin finds the team transaction and provides the available invoice. Petra saves it with the company’s documents and keeps the receipt for her personal Plus subscription separate. Using both accounts does not turn them into a single subscription.

If the document is missing, send details that identify the payment

Tell the admin, reseller or support team which payment you are looking for and what you have checked. Include enough information to locate the purchase; your password and full payment-card number do not belong in the request. Adapt the following template to the recipient.

If you only have a payment receipt, say so explicitly. This helps avoid getting the same receipt again when you are asking for an invoice.

Fill in the details in square brackets and send the message to the subscription manager or the relevant support team.

Open the saved file before passing it on

Check the account or team, period, amount and document type. Open the file and give it a name you can find when preparing your records, such as “Dropbox – September 2026 – invoice”. Save the document itself rather than just a link to the billing page.

Send your accountant the document you actually obtained. If you are still looking for another one, add a short note explaining what you have and what you are waiting for. They can then tell whether you sent an invoice, a payment receipt or an update on the search.
